Did you know that 15th May every year marks the International Day of Families? It is a significant day in our diary, a day to highlight the importance of different types of families. What Is The International Day Of Families?

In 1993, the United Nations General Assembly declared that 15th May every year would be the International Day Of Families. A day to highlight the importance of families and celebrate the role of families in society.

This day is now observed and celebrated globally amongst all world cultures. It is a day in which we can come together to promote awareness of family issues, celebrate the various types of families and share our knowledge of the social, economic and demographic process affecting families every day.

Over the years, demographic trends have continuously evolved, leading to drastic changes in the family structure. Today, family structures include nuclear families, single-parent families, extended families, step-parent families and childless families.

Despite the change in family structures, the UN believe that families should still be recognised and celebrated as a basic unity of society.

International Day Of Families is a great time opportunities for people to spend time with their extended families.

Why Does International Day Of Families Matter To Us?

There are numerous reasons why this day matters to us here at 828 Law.

Just last year, Angela (the Founder and Director of 828 Law) was awarded Family Law Accreditation by the Law Society after five years of demonstrating an extensive and varied amount of family law work.

As experts in family law and child cases, we understand that even when parents are separating, it’s important for the children to know that they still have a family.

The family dynamic and structure may be changing following a separation, divorce or even the loss of a loved one; but it doesn’t take away from the fact that your children still have a family that loves them.

We work with families facing divorce and separation, financial settlement issues and child arrangement disputes.

We are also proud to work with Voices In The Middle, an outstanding charity which aims to provide support for the children of parents who are splitting up or have divorced.

What Is Voices In The Middle?

Voices In The Middle is a charity that was set up by a group of family law and mediation specialists who wanted to support children caught between their separating parents.

With so many families experiencing separation and divorce, Voices In The Middle provide a platform for children to be heard at one of the most challenging times in their life.

With the support of family law firms like ours, the charity successfully provides a helpline and a support group for children who feel as if they have nowhere else to turn.
